Kitchen Cabinets

We are going to start with the kitchen due to the fact that your kitchen is one of the places that you spend most of your time and the fact that the return on investment that you get from home improvement projects is very high.

One of the places I look to first in the kitchen is the kitchen cabinets. Cabinets can look dated and worn out pretty quickly and they can be easily reconditioned without complete replacement. A complete replacement is certainly an option but this is likely the most expensive option and it may require professional help to do the installation.

A better option might be to paint the cabinets and update the hardware with new hinges and pulls and knobs. If the cabinets are a little worn with scratches, nicks and dings, think about making them look like vintage kitchen cabinets. You can extra stress marks to the faces and then paint them with an appropriate vintage color with matching vintage hardware.

Another option is to paint the base cabinets and then replace the cabinet doors and drawer faces. This cuts down on some of the work, costs a little more but can give you a dramatic new look to your kitchen cabinets. This option also allows you to stick with natural wood if that is the desired look you want to achieve.
